Food Processing & Manufacturing Pest Control in Bellingham & Northwest Washington
For a food or beverage plant, pest control is a documented part of your food-safety program — and a single pest sighting or a gap in your records can put an audit score, a customer relationship, or a shipment at risk. Sasquatch Pest Control builds and maintains documented IPM programs for processors and manufacturers across Whatcom and Skagit County.
Pest control is a graded part of your food-safety program
Under the FDA’s Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Preventive Controls for Human Food rule (21 CFR Part 117), pest exclusion is a current Good Manufacturing Practice and a prerequisite program. Auditors generally expect a documented, monitored program rather than reactive treatment. Whether you’re certified to SQF, BRCGS, or FSSC 22000, or inspected against the AIB International Consolidated Standards, your pest-management records are among the first documents an auditor reviews.
We design your program around the standard you’re audited against, install and map the appropriate monitoring devices, and keep the documentation current so you’re prepared when an audit comes. Every visit is logged, device activity is trended, and findings are documented with a corrective action.
The standards we build your program around
- FSMA — Preventive Controls for Human Food (21 CFR Part 117): pests should be excluded from the facility; pest control is a documented cGMP and prerequisite program.
- HACCP: your pest-management program is a prerequisite that supports the hazard plan — documented, monitored, and verified.
- GFSI schemes — SQF, BRCGS, FSSC 22000: certification audits that call for a written IPM program, mapped devices, trend analysis, and corrective actions.
- AIB International Consolidated Standards: a scored inspection where pest control, exclusion, and documentation are evaluated.
- USDA / FDA: exclusion, sanitation, and monitoring expectations for facilities producing human food.
Our food-processing IPM program
Integrated Pest Management is prevention-first: we work to reduce pressure through exclusion and monitoring, and use the least-hazardous material only when a threshold is reached. For a processing environment that typically includes:
Documentation that supports your audit readiness
When your auditor asks for the pest binder, it’s organized and current — on site or in the cloud:
- Written IPM program & scope of work, plus a facility-specific pest-management plan
- A service report for every visit and an on-site pest-sighting log
- Scaled device/station map with every device numbered to match the floor
- Pest-activity trend reports by device and zone
- Corrective/preventive action (CAPA) logs with the sanitation & exclusion items we’ve recommended to your team
- Pesticide-use records, current product labels, and SDS for every material used
- Proof of WSDA licensing (commercial applicator) and insurance

Food processing pest control — FAQ
Will you provide the documentation my SQF / BRCGS / AIB auditor asks for?
Yes. Your program includes a written scope, a scaled device map, service reports, trend reports, and corrective-action logs, organized to support your audit. We can also be available during your audit to answer pest-related questions.
How often will you service our plant?
Frequency depends on your risk level and audit scheme — many processors are serviced weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly, with exterior and interior device checks each visit. We’ll recommend a frequency during your free facility assessment.
Do you clean up droppings and sanitize?
No — we don’t provide janitorial or cleaning services. We inspect, identify the conducive conditions and sanitation issues driving pest pressure, and give your team a documented action list to correct them. That keeps responsibilities clear.
Can you help us prepare for an upcoming audit?
Yes. Our pre-audit walkthrough reviews your facility against your scheme’s checklist and the pest binder, and helps you close out corrective actions ahead of the audit.
Are your technicians licensed for food facilities?
Yes. Our applicators are licensed through the Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) and insured, and our commercial programs draw on ACE/PCIQ-credentialed consulting.
